Taming Your Finances

The article grows out of a simple "index card," on which the author distills a set of essential rules for managing personal finances. Years later, he revisits those principles from the perspective of people living on modest incomes, showing how—even with limited resources—it is possible to build a small margin of financial security: making use of available tax benefits and public programs, avoiding high-interest debt, setting aside an emergency fund, and relying on free counseling services that support more informed financial decisions.
The illustration has received a Merit at the 3x3 International Illustration Pro Show No.15, one of the leading international awards for contemporary illustration.
