Taming Your Finances

The article grows out of a simple “index card”, on which the author distils a set of essential rules for managing personal finances. Years later, he revisits those principles from the perspective of people living on modest incomes, showing how – even with limited resources – it is possible to build a small margin of financial security: making use of available tax benefits and public programmes, avoiding high-interest debt, setting aside an emergency fund, and relying on free counselling services that support more informed financial decisions.
The illustration received a Merit in the 3x3 International Illustration Annual No.15, published by 3x3, The Magazine of Contemporary Illustration.
